I love having this trash can in my kitchen! It is FAST to open, holds more than you'd think, is classy to look at and is just FUN! Ordered a bigger, different brand which was more expensive so I thought would be better, for my daughter, but I sent it back and got another one like mine for her. This one is the greatest.

Worth the money,

This is my second automatic trash can. The first finally broke after 4 years. This model seems to made with less sturdy plastic at the gears, the lid and at the ring holding down the bag. Overall, its still a good purchase for the money. Once you get one of these things, its hard to go back to a regular trash can.

Great Looking,

I purchased this trash can a couple of years ago, when they carried it in the store. When the lid cracked (our fault, not manufacturer's) , we were so dissapointed when we couldn't find it in the store. I purchased another trash can that didn't last long (weak motor maybe?), then thought to look online and was surprised to find this one there. The first one we owned was great--long lasting battery, no motor issues--and would have lasted us if we hadn't cracked the lid. The can is slim and sleek , not bulky like some models (but still fits the 13 gallon bags). The price is great for this size can. I have seen smaller ones for a lot more. The opening is just the right size. It's easy to wipe clean if there are spills. I love this model!

Addicting, but Imperfect,

I love this trash can, but be very careful when putting in a new bag. Don't drop the top! The gears to break easily. But batteries last a long time (had mine in 3 years at least.) Hate that the gears break so easily, but once you have used it -- you're hooked. Housesitter threw out the bag liner thing, but we just pull the bag over the top and it doesn't look too bad. We also use 30-gallon bags which make everything much easier. Think I'll also get a smaller one for my bathroom, as dogs love to rummage in the trash.

Great trashcan!!,

I read the reviews for the trash can before I bought it. They were all pretty good so I decided I would buy it. I ordered this trashcan on a Friday afternoon from samsclub.com. Sam's said it would take 7-10 days for it to come in. It came in the next Friday in only 7 days, which I was excited about. It was very easy to put together, and you do need 4 D batteries. I've been having it for 3 weeks and love this trashcan! It's so convenient and the mouth of the trashcan is big enough to fit paper plates, aluminum pan, etc. I thought the price was very reasonable for this item as well. It's very convenient and less than $100 for this is a great price for the convenience.

This is a really helpful piece of equipment for any kitchen--and happy to have it! However, we had one of these before for two-plus years when the plastic gear broke. Our location of can caused many unintentional openings/closings, but was happy to find the new one is less sensitive for unwanted openings and less of a problem in this regard (yet it still functions well when desired). Was disappointed to see the gear appears to be like the old one, though, and fear it is not up to the quality it should have for long wear. Why plastic for gears??

"Thing" Trash Can,

I had one of the earlier models as shown in this picture that failed after two years. Even after a month we kept waiting for it to open because it becomes an expected reaction. The newer design seems to have addressed the issue. Time will tell.

Great Until it Breaks,

We love this trash can, but it will only last 2-3 years before one of the plastic hinges or plastic gears breaks. I've bought 3 of them for other family members and they've had the same problems. Wish a better plastic or stronger material would be used for the parts that do most of the work.
The gear on mine broke today. I'm going to buy another one because we love the convenience.

Don't touch the Touch Free,

I've had my unit for about three years and it had worked well. After two house cleanings by the cleaning lady the unit is a wreck. I'm not sure what they did by the gears are stripped now. She also through out the plastic retention ring. I will give her training for the new one.I'll have to get another. I won't be without one. I can't figure out why the 748350 unit and the 461376 unit seam to be identical there is a $10 difference. I'm not sure which one the old one was so I'll go with 461376 (the $58.72 one.)

Works Great (Breaks easily),

We love this trash can but we are on our second one also. The first one lasted about 3 years and the plastic gear that opens the lid broke. We tried a different brand of touch free trash can and it didn't work nearly as well as this one. You can actually get the bag out of this can without ripping it. The batteries last a long time and I have kids that love to stand in front of it and make it open just cause they can.

Can lasted 2 years,

We luved this can, it worked great. Batteries lasted a long time. Then one day a tiny steel pin came out of inner housing and fell inside can disabling the mechanism, I spent an hour finding the pin and sticking it back into plastic housing, it lasted another month and the plastic housing broke surrounding the pin. Typical that a .10 cent plastic part that can't be repaired ....disables a 100 dollar trash can.
