First large screen and HDTV purchase,

First of all, the purchase process through Sams Club was fantastic. Easy to order, super fast shipping (ordered Sunday, Delivered Wednesday).
As for the TV, I was hesitant to buy this brand at first because it wasn't an "established" brand like Sony,Toshiba, etc... A few days of internet research later, having read overwhelming good reviews, I was comfortable with buying this brand name (I'm a research-oholic too). Having looked at the different sizes in the store (this model wasn't available locally), we were undecided on size,but eventually chose this size based on price. Coming from a 19" tv (heh, yes, that's all we had) to this monster is a HUGE change. Flipping between standard def and hi-def is a huge change. I'm not a TV/video snob, so take the above with a grain of salt if you have prior experience with hi-def displays.
The disappointment I have is based on the USB media port. It's picky. Very picky on file format. None of the video files I had available would work with the media port. Re-encoding the videos to a format that is seen takes time, and I was never able to find the correct audio format to get both audio and visual working. I'm sure that if I played with it enough, I could get it working right, but it's a gimmick that just annoys me with how it was implemented. Considering the newest versions due out in 2010 will have Streaming ability (from Hulu, Twitter, etc...), it may be less of an issue. But if you're choosing this TV over another because of the media port, don't. You'll still need to have some other device (laptop, PC, game console, etc...) connected to have a Reliable end result.

We had been watching the prices on this size LCD for a while now. So, when I got the email from Sam's.com about the special pricing before the Super Bowl, we knew we had been rewarded for waiting. Got the 120 hZ refresh for a sweet price. It was delivered before it even posted to my CC. Set up was a breeze, and thanks to the previous advice on the sound, got that taken care of ASAP. Picture is outstanding, especially when playing the Wii. Sound is pretty good, it is stylish and nice to look at even when not on. Great set, great quality, great delivery, everything about this experience has been GREAT! Nothing to complain about at all!

Vizio has the best price,picture, and an easy to use remote.Set-up was a breeze. had a 37" for 2 weeks and returned it for the 42". price difference was so minimal. I would only get a Vizio TV from now on. The others just don't match up to the quality.

This T.V. has an excellent picture. It takes some getting used to after watching a regular T.V. for 40 years! The sound is the only issue so far. It seems we have to turn it up and down a lot. Will probably buy a sound bar or more speakers. Other than that we are well pleased with our purchase.

Great Unit,

We have two sets of other brands in our RV, so my comments of the Vizio are based on a comparison with those other sets. The Vizio responds much faster, whenever we switch channels, do searches, make adjustments or turn the unit on or off. The clarity is great! The color and blackness are intense. We have lightened the picture for a more real contrast and color image. The quality of non HD programs is great, too. It took only a few minutes to set the unit up. Anyone with a little electronic hook-up experience can do it. No need for additional installation costs unless you want an expert to mount the unit on the wall. For someone with aging eyes this unit is perfect! The Vizio is a lower cost unit with features of much more expensive brands.

Not as Good as it Should Have Been,

After using Vizio products for a few years I had High expectations of this product. However The TV would loose all signals about 20 minutes after turning it on. After the forth time I returned it to the store and bought a 40" Samsung. Nice TV. The people in the store were super no problems withe the return or the credit.

Naturally I was apprehensive about ordering such a big item online. In fact, everything went as hoped. The ordering was simple. The delivery was fortunately normal--on time and without any need to be apprehensive--and in the end, routine. And the new big TV looks great. Have your HDMI cable ready ahead of time, because that is what you need for the best picture and sound from an attached DVD or BluRay. I should have moved up to a bigger TV earlier.

I have had my Vizio TV for almost a week now and I have been pleased with the experience so far. It has a very nice design and, as others have noted, it is very easy to set up. The only reason that i rated the T.V. a four star instead of a five star is because the sound is really poor. Our son has asthma and has to do breathing treatments with a nebulizer and he can hardly hear the T.V., even when the volume is all the way up. We had a 10-year-old Toshiba before this and never had any issues with volume. Still, the product overall is good. We plan on getting a speaker(s) to enhance the sound, for around $100. As for the picture, we do not have HD service, so the picture is good but not great. As long as you are about 8' or more back from the T.V., it looks fine. DVDs look awesome, so I have no doubt that the TV would truly shine in HD. The 120 hz is a little hard to get used to and it makes movies look very "weird." I have heard that this feature enhances watching sports, but I have not tried it yet. The TV has ample inputs (HDMI and others) to support multiple devices. The remote is pretty basic, but most everyone I know uses a universal nowadays anway, so that is not a big deal. Overall, it is a great value for the price, even if I do have to buy speakers to enhance the sound.

I purchased this VIZIO as a second TV for the bedroom, we have a larger SONY Bravia in the family room. The picture and sound of the VIZIO is as good as the SONY, I would rate the features and ease of use better then the SONY, which cost 4 times as much. With the media features I have download free HD movies on the internet and watched them on my VIZIO using a USB hard drive. I had reasearched this TV before purchasing and and thus I had no problem getting the correct settings. The PIP and POP features are great for football and so is the 120Hz refresh rate. I have only had this TV for 2 weeks, but so far I am very pleased and I can't think of a single negative.
