Early Xmas gift for master bedroom sitting room. Husband could not read details on previous set, searched and Sam's had great deal - am very happy with detail of picture appears to be 3-D. Better yet my "honey" is very pleased with his gift.Now we are waiting for the mount to be placed on the wall. Found it was too heavy for us (both over 62 y/o) but appears to be the proper safety for a second story room in earthquake prone California.

I went to Sam's Club and compared the picture quality side by side with other HDTV's and found this to be the best for my eyes. My wife too thought it to be best-of-breed. We took advantage of free shipping rather than try to stuff it into our sedan. Everything went smoothly. We installed it after getting a Cable Box converter upgrade to HDTV and we are now enjoying the unit to the max. We watched ice skating competition on it and it was better than rink-side seating.

This is the second Vizio LCD we have purchased at Sam's and we are extremely pleased with both. The first was a 22" Full HD and now this beauty. Installation was a breeze and the over-the air HD is perfect. The basic signal is DirecTV, supplemented with a garage-rafter mounted "old" antenna for local HD. The picture is great with basic satellite, hence, no need for upgrade to HD service. The only issue we have is that now we know what TV should look like, we have to replace one more - will buy a Vizio 32" XVT shortly.

This is my first HD Tv Pros - I love this TV - Great picture - Great Sound - Easy to set up - Great viewing angles
Cons - MINOR - I have direct TV with DVR. Vizio tvs can not be programmed to turn on and off with the Direct TV remote. - The eye on the tv is limited - you have to be directly infront of the tv to turn the volume down or up.

Great Value, Outstanding Performance,

After 5 years of waiting I finally bought a flatscreen HD TV. Consumer Reports had rated this a best buy so I bought it eventhough some people have said they had issues with the lamp going out after a couple of weeks/months. I've had the TV for 2 days, I have a DVD player, Wii, a computer and cable box and my ROKU Netflix streaming device plugged into it. I use HDMI for the HD Cable, DVD and ROKU. Use component for the Wii and RGB for the computer. This TV really shines in 1080i or 720P HD, the picture quality is amazing. My family has a Sony Bravia and I would rate the picture quality on this TV as better and less prone to flickers. One negative so far is the remote, maybe its me, but I have to push the keys sometimes repeatedly for it to process the command, things like power on, changing the volume or channels take repeated tries.

The SV421XVT is an excellent TV with amazing picture. The remote is also very good with backlighted buttons and lots of functions. However, I find two disappointing functions: There is no TV Guide like other competitors, the Guide button only gives the same banner info like the Info button, and not a listing of all the channels. Also the PIP function only works with different inputs and not the same input, for example, you cannot watch two local channels at the same time. Hopefully, this TV will be reliable and last as others have reported problems.

Amazing TV,

This is the first HiDef TV that I've ever purchased. I used to work at Sam's and witnessed Vizio's rise to fame. I've always been in awe of the quality vs. price ratio that they excel at presenting. And this set is no exception. As soon as I took it out of the box and set it up to view our HD cable I was simply amazed. I knew it was going to be good, but what I got was outstanding. Like every other HDTV, standard definition and digital signals aren't the best, but with the 240Hz technology, they aren't ugly either. I have yet to hook up a Blu-Ray player or PS3, but I am willing to bet that those will be displayed brilliantly as well.
When using HDMI for my HD cable, the colors on the HD channels are exquisite and vibrant. The whites are bright and vivid and the blacks are actually black, not bluish or brownish like other sets that I've seen. The Smooth Motion feature takes a little getting used to. I initially didn't like it until I realized that my eye would work like that if I were actually in the scene that I was watching. Only extremely fast-moving scenes will challenge this set...but, they challenge all sets. The virtual surround sound feature that is the default setting for the speakers is not the best option unless you want to crank up the volume to listen through the TV's speakers. The abundance of connections (4 HDMI) is pretty standard now, but is welcome for an audio/video lover. I have yet to use the USB port, but I'm sure it's a novelty that will be enjoyed by those that want to.
Overall, this TV is simply amazing. I would imagine that you'd only get a better picture on the LED backlit displays or some of the top of the line plasma sets. But, then, you'll be paying out of your nose for a quality that will put a pretty good strain on your eyes.
