This table is exceptional. The quality is great, the price was great. This table is a steal! The table was super easy to put together and the leaf stores folded under the table and is easily put to use. We have six in our family, so right now we have the leaf stored away and use the table with 1 chair at the head and foot of the table and 2 on either side. The two remaining chairs, we use at our bar. We can easily fold out the leaf and grab the chairs from the bar. Overall, the quality and appearance is totally worth more than what we paid for the set!!!

I picked this up from a local Sam's Club and was very impressed with the packaging and quality. Everything is very organized and packaged VERY well for shipment. I am handy and put it together in a couple hours by myself. I did require help in flipping the table over after the legs were assembled. It is fairly heavy and flipping the table will definately require 2-4 people to avoid a mishap.
The directions are pretty good, just be careful not to over tighten anything. Also, it comes with a CHEAP wrench that would add hours to install, so use a socket and drill for faster assembly.
Quality is VERY nice for price! I found 8 chairs to be too many so I didn't open all the chairs. It would be too tight with 8 chairs anyway. I am only using 4 right now. (6 would be much better than 8)
If you have been looking for a counter height table, this is a nice one that you'll be happy with!

I have wanted this set for 2 years and walked away from it. We have searched and almost chosen other products, but they were substantially higher in price and not real wood. This year as soon as I saw it my husband and I bought it! The value is outstanding and it is absolutely beautiful in our kitchen. I shopped for months and found this in the Sam's seasonal flyer. It was in stock at our local Sam's Club. The others I had looked at had much lower quality hardware and the table butterfly mechanism was not nearly as sturdy as the one is this table. The other sets were 5 pieces for more money and extra chairs were anywhere from $200 to $500 a pair.
The assembly was straight forward and although it took a bit of time to assemble 8 chairs, it was well worth it.

I have seen this set in my local Sams Club for the last 6 months and have stopped to look each time I've been there (weekly.) I agree with all of the previous reviews, that there's no mistaking the beauty of this piece. I was in store early last week and noticed that the lighter colored 9 piece was shrink wrapped and put on carts, which looked like it, being the display was the last one in stock. I noticed that there was a darker colored set for more $ that wasn't near as striking.
I was back in the store the next day to pick up a ping pong table and noticed the piece near the exit in the clearance section. The last one and was marked down as well. I couldn't pass it up.
Unlike the many others, my set was already assempled and very heavy. We brought it home two days before Thanksgiving and used it for our visitors the day of. Spacing didn't seem to be a real issue. It's not like we were at a restaurant booth and had to have our legs together and under the table. There was plenty of room on the table and was great for conversation, since everyone sat the same distance away from each other.
Quality: I had no idea of materials or anything prior to my purchase of this piece. I assumed it was oak, but apparently it's made from Rubberwood Plantation trees, which is considered a medium grade wood. The fact is that it looks and feels as high quality as anything I've seen compared to other countertop height sets. As long as you don't treat the set badly it should last for many years. I have really come to trust the products that Sams Club selects and this product is no exception.
Value: Even paying full price, you cannot beat this set.
I am so happy to have this set. I'm hoping to find some close matching pieces to join the set in our dining room.

We bought this after thinking about it for several months. It's too big for our little dining room to leave it extended, but allows us to entertain more than one couple comfortably when we need to. My parents raved about how nice it was and I put it together in about an hour (with power tools). The other complaints that it might be rickety probably were because if you don't get the supports to sit in the holes right, it would be. But it's not too difficult to figure out and they give you plenty of hardware to do it right. The foot bar has a nice metal cover so the wood doesn't ding up when you rest your shoes on it too. My only recommendation is to line up all the chair pieces and do them all at once, assembly line style. It goes MUCH faster that way!

The set is definitely beautiful and looks great. We assembled it and I was impressed with the quality of the product. However, after we got the set put together and started using it, we quickly realized that the it wasn't well-designed for functionality. The legs are bulky making it a very tight fit to get two chairs side-by-side. It wasn't comfortable to have everyone sitting around as there was inadequate leg room and our knees would rub against the butterfly leaf when it was folded under. We found it uncomfortable enough that we returned it. It is a beautiful piece though and I would recommend it for its aesthetic value if you only use it on occasion and only seat one person on each side. Otherwise, make sure you test it out well at the store showroom before committing to purchase.

Assembly was a chore. Well worth it. tip on assemble use small amount of wood glue when putting together the chairs should stay sturdy for many years. All of the boxes fit in a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan :) just in time for the Turkey. Great Value Table is very heavy 180#s

We looked around for counter height sets and found this to be a nice quality set for the price. It did take some time to assemble but there are a lot of extra parts. The only issue is that it comes in 5 boxes and doesn't fit in a minivan - you need a truck or a trailer to transport it. Even with the cost of renting a van though....it was still a great deal.

We've had this for a week in our breakfast area. So far has been great. Kids love it. You just had to screw in the legs on the table and the only hard part was manuvering the chair rungs so that they are screwed in straight. Easy to put together since all the very hard parts were already assembled. I listed seating as both pro and con since it has plenty of seating but it is a very tight fit. Compared prices at some of the big furniture stores and you cannot buy one of this size for Sam's price. Disappointed that they no longer carry the buffet/sideboard.

I was a little nervous about purchasing this table after reading some of the reviews about it being cheaply made, etc. I was surprised because the table appeared very similar in construction to a table I had purchased from Sam's club 7 years ago. That table was SOLID. Very sturdy and we loved it. The only reason we were looking for a new table is that we now require the extra seating. Anyway, based on our previous experience, we decided to go ahead and buy. It appears very sturdy and solid, just like our previous set. The only reason I can think of that people had complaints about it is perhaps it was not assembled properly. It was very time consuming to put it together and had to be assembled by hand. (No screw gun!) We have not had any issues with the table or chairs being wobbly. I think it's a great value.

I purchased this set after looking at several pub dining sets in my area. I liked the color and detail in the chair backs and legs of the table. Also, the fact that it seats 8 was a bonus. When I got it and began to put it together, it was obvious that it was very cheaply made. For example, the drill holes were not done properly so that the spindles at the bottom of the leg did not go in flush to the legs. Once drilled in snugly, you coudl still move spindles back and forth. When you sat on the stool, it would wobble. Also, the boxes were very heavy, with the table box weighing 183lbs. We spent an hour trying to put two stools together and then decided it was not worth it. We returned it! It may look good superficially, but it is cheaply done and I doubt would last anyone for two years of use!

I really loved the table at another store, until I saw this one. This table is wonderful. The detail is great. The chairs are comfortable. The leaf is easy access. Easy to assemble. They didn't have one at my usual store so I checked some others and found one less then twenty miles away, I saved $100 in shipping fees. This set saved me over two hundred dollars from buying a similar version at another store, and it's made just as well. I love it.

This is a beautiful table and I loved the one at the store, but after paying $186 shipping to get one sent to my home, I was disappointed with the quality of the table I received. The fold-down panel on the side is ill-fitting, and when I attempted to bring it down, I actually ended up getting a stress crack in the wood. The only way you can get something like this out for set-up is to effectively destroy the box, and sadly, it's not worth the effort to try to repack it for return, especially when a third-party shipper is used.
