Great machine much better than any you buy in box stores. More brush action, MORE suction so rug is almost dry when you pull it back. One pass only needed to really clean, not like the others had to make many trips across an area to clean what Rug Dr. does in one pass.

Makes My Previous Shampooer Look Like a Toy,

I've had two Hoover brand shampooers and have loved them, but wanted to go with something more durable since they each only lasted about 4 years. But after using the Rug Dr, it makes my previous shampooers look like toys. The suction is incredible - the upholstery attachment works wonders! The recovery tank cleans out SO much easier, and is HEAVY duty!! Do be aware that this is not like running a vacuum back and forth - you pull it in swaths. Even if this would die after 4 or 5 years, I think I would be content with the extra money spent, but looking how it is built, (compare pics of upholstery attachments) I expect to be running this machine for a long time.

Yes, the RugDoctor cost you 2-3x of what you might pay for a Bissel of a Hoover wet-vac, but you get what you pay for. I used to have a older Bissel wet-vac and it had to go over the carpet multiple times to get it clean. Then I rented a RogDoctor and the same cleaning became a lot faster. The RugDoctor uses a lot of water, so you generally only have to go over and area once. It is also heavy so it can suck up the water easily and it hold more water then the other wet-vacs. Now I have a big house with lots of carpet and I went ahead and bought a unit. It came in a box already assembled. I'm very pleased with it! I haven't tried the cleaning tools yet.

We first rented the RugDoctor from the local supermarket so we knew it cleaned well. Because of this economic crisis, we could not call our favorite carpet cleaning company. They cost almost exactly what we paid for the RugDoctor to clean a house of carpet. They do a fantastic job. We wanted that same result without calling the carpet cleaning company. So we are so pleased to have the RugDoctor in our home. We have 3 young children and just this morning one child dropped blackberry jam on the carpet. It is so convenient to have the cleaning machine right in our home for small jobs or very large jobs. I would recommend this machine to anyone who loves clean carpet.

I've owned this shampooer for about a week and have used it twice. Above anything else, I will say that this product works better than any other carpet shampooer I've owned.
First, the Pros: Well made product that doesn't appear to be cheaply made nor will break easily. Although heavy in weight, it's not that hard to pull backwards for use. Got 95% of the dirt and 85% of the stains out of my carpets but like the manual explains, it does not work well on berber. (See cons). Easy to store with the fold down handle. Easy cleanup when finished.
The Cons: Uses a lot of water and shampoo (pricey!) since I had to fill the machine up many times to do my carpets. Stopping mid-stream to empty the dirty water and refill the clean water takes away valuable time. Because of this water usage, the carpets are lot more damp afterwards than with any other shampooer I've used. Does not do well on berber carpet. I have an older dog that sometimes can't wait all day without being let out and she's stained my dining room carpet. This shampooer did not remove those urine stains on the berber, however, it did remove them on non-berber carpet.
Overall, I think it is a great machine and I'm glad I bought it. I just hope it will help prolong the life of my carpets.

I own residential rental property, so have a need for a good carpet cleaner. I had rented a Rug Doctor a number of times in the past, and was very satisfied with the performance of them. I then bought another brand, lower price cleaner and used it for a few years; it just didn't do the job, and did not hold up to the type of work I did. This Rug Doctor that I recently purchased works every bit as good as the rental units, and is made just as sturdy. I should have bought this unit years ago. With the Rug Doctor, I have been able to "save" carpets that appeared to be beyond cleaning. The unit seemed a bit pricey, but should be worth it.

Unit works great! It does move a lot of fluid through the carpet. A room that took about a gallon of fluid for our old Bissel to clean took almost 10 gallons with the Rug Doctor. It does a great job of recovering the fluid, and the result is a much cleaner carpet. Easy to use, easy to clean after use. The only downside is it is bulky to store. Well worth the money.

They were right, I had just cleaned my office carpet with my Hoover, but going over them with the Rug Doctor brought up a ton more dirt. Really worked well on getting stains up on one of my rentals. I thought I would have to replace the carpet, but now it looks good.
Down side.. it's heavy, and the water tank (holds solution) is small. You have to keep refilling it every 10 minutes. I just brought a big extra bucket of water in so I wouldn't have to run back and forth filling the tank.

This is a great carpet cleaner, we cleaned all our carpets and our couch and chairs with this the day we got it, the only draw back is the loud motor ( the power is why it works so good) but I just pop some ear plugs in and go to work. It made our carpets smell fresh and feel so clean.
